If you're the kind of crazy kid that points out every error in every movie (much to the chagrin of your fellow movie goers), then this site is for you. Just look at the errors that people found in Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and Return of the King.
Obsess much?
I caught the trailer for this last night (right before Return of the King [go. see. it]). I'm not a very big Ashton Kutcher fan, but this looks pretty freaky -- woo! What I really liked about the trailer is the typeface for all of the titles. It's kind of short and squatty and I like the "g" the best. It's like a "G" and serifed "g" that have been smashed together and washed in hot water. At the end of the trailer, the two 'f's in "effect" are actually back-to-back, like butterfly wings. A cheap trick, maybe, but I liked it.
Growth in Music Licensing Brings Conflicts
A report on music licensing, how recent changes to copyright law have made the process difficult for everyone -- not just musicians. I think Magnatune's use of a sliding scale is really the way to go. If you're interested in a piece of music for a school project, or a documentary, you don't necessarily need to pay the same amount of money as a major motion picture studio who wants a piece of music for their summer blockbuster. Just saying.
The Universe as seen by Hubble
My very favourite space image is that of the Eagle's Nest (M16). That I can have a favourite is thanks entirely to the Hubble Space Telescope. And what I love about this interview is Mario Livo's energy (Mario Livio is a senior scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute). You can hear it -- the man can barely sit still. It's great. I didn't realize, before hearing this spot, that the universe's expansion is speeding up. Cool. (I'm suddenly reminded of an episode of "Stargate: SG-1" -- oye!)
